The Reading Room

Our family loves to read. We know we should read more than we do.Sharing like this might help. It is helpful to share what we read with each other. This is a family blog, but if you have read what we are reading or if you are reading something that would be edifying and constructive for our Christian walk, please feel free to share!

Small Changes for a Better Life

Posted by Picasa

One of my “resolutions” this year was to read more and to share what I read. This morning I finished my first book.

I have heard people say that Elizabeth George repeats a lot and that is probably true. However, I really enjoyed reading this book which shares “Daily steps to Living God’s Plan for You.” She touches five main areas:

God’s Plan for your Life

God’s Plan for your Spiritual Life

God’s Plan for your Daily Life

God’s Plan for your Family Life

God’s Plan for your Personal Life

There are many useful and practical lessons in the book. Since I have always loved “organizational” books, I especially enjoyed the section on daily life. I was, however, especially convicted by the section on personal life—you guessed it-- you are what you eat :-( Eating too much costs too much and causes us to sleep too much (Pro. 23:21)

There are many great quotes in the book, too. In our Bible Study for the ladies this year, we are studying woman of the Bible so I made careful note of those mentioned: Abigail, Rebekah, Eve, Ruth and , of course, the Pro. 31 lady!

There is also a Bible study to go with the book. Her main thesis is that to make changes in our life, we have to do it one day at a time. So I better quit writing for I have resolved with John Wesley—“Leisure and I have parted company. I am resolved to be busy till I die.” P. 138

You challenge me to change by your own desire to change.

But did you have to mention eating?
