The Reading Room

Our family loves to read. We know we should read more than we do.Sharing like this might help. It is helpful to share what we read with each other. This is a family blog, but if you have read what we are reading or if you are reading something that would be edifying and constructive for our Christian walk, please feel free to share!

Choir music suggestions, anyone?

I am looking for a few suggestions of those #10 choir pieces, if anyone has any. I've found a lot of good ones, but am looking for GREAT ones! (Or as Mom would say, goooood ones!)

Has anyone done any of the following (being considered for this year):

Christ in Us, The Hope of Glory
Cindy Berry; Monarch Music

Living Lord
Ken Bible, Tom Fettke; Alfred

Jesus, At Your Name
John Parker, Mark Hayes; Lorenz

The Gifts He Gives to Me
Cindy Berry; Glory Sound

I Choose You
Deborah Govenor; Beckenhorst

Praise the Lord! Ye Heavens, Adore Him
Benjamin Harlan; Brookfield

My Wordless Prayer
Pamela Martin, Craig Courtney; Beckenhorst

Let's see....GREAT pieces....how about:

Amazing Grace, Courtney, Beckenhorst

The Music of Thy Name, Courtney, Beckenhorst

Hymn of Mercy, Forrest, Beckenhorst

I also agree with you on My Wordless Prayer and I Choose You. I'm not familiar with the other ones you mentioned. Hope this helps.....and forgive me for my bias towards Beckenhorst. ;-)

Brian,
Have you done those two? What do you agree with me about? 'Cause I'm not sure what I think :-)!. I haven't done them yet, though I am ordering "I Choose You" today.
"My Wordless Prayer" scares me just a bit. I like the concept. I just wonder if it isn't just a tiny bit "me" focused.
I will definately look into these, though. Another problem is that we are struggling at the accompanist level. So, unless you guys decide Minnesota is better than Boston....

Dan, I haven't actually conducted them...just heard them before and like them. But I know that that is completely different from conducting it....so I guess you'll have to make the call or find someone else who has conducted it.
The other 3 pieces I recommended I haven't conducted either, but I have either accompanied them or have sung them in choir in the past.
Happy music selecting!
